The first brief was “imagine you are filming a documentary”.
An internationally published photographer, raised by Chinese-Cambodian refugees. Capturing the children and grandparents who stay in the countryside while their parents sleep on cots. Highways less than twenty years old, wealthy kids sent to English school in the hope of studying abroad, everyone indoors through the lunchtime heat. Relatives spanning every class, and exploring the idiom that kept surfacing: “wealthy ’til you’re blind”.
